Welcome to the Curtis Community Arts Council.

CCAC is a Michigan nonprofit corporation dedicated to enriching the mind, body and spirit of individuals of all ages by providing educational, cultural and physical activity opportunities in the Curtis area.

For twenty-six years, through the cooperation of property owners Clarence & Velma Walsh,
 
the Curtis community has had the use of a forty acre parcel of land. The Park Center and Curtis Park offer a variety of activities and events for the community. This property has now been secured for the perpetual use of the
Curtis community. The funding has been made possible through the
generosity of Richard and Nancy Erickson of Curtis, Michigan.

Enlightening the lives of individuals of all ages.
The Center offers theatrical workshops, art exhibits, weaving classes, wood carving classes, yoga sessions, pottery classes, musical entertainment, photography exhibits & workshops, a Wellness Center for physical

Theatrical Performances, Musical Guests, and Family Fun!

The Curtis Park invites young and old to enjoy the many creative shows that are listed in our Events Calendar.
Whether it is a theatrical/musical performance with Follywood's "Sonny & Cher" (Kelly and Bud Chamberlin) or the musical talents of Kellie Lin Knott during "Music in the Park", you're sure to be entertained by the numerous weekly events being held here. Check our Events Calendar for dates.

The Curtis Park Festivities
This property has been the center of many great festivities!  The Independence Day Celebrations - "Michigan's Biggest Little Town Parade" and Art On The Lake held on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. This is also the home of the Portage Players, a group that is centered around performing arts and the creation of larger than life characters "Finn & Fern".

CCAC Highlights

Paintings by Betty Pyne of Lakefield are currently on display, downstairs at the Curtis Park Center.  Artwork may be viewed during Wellness Center hours.

Open House at the Erickson Cultural Center - June 7th, 2008 Noon - 4:00 pm Parade with Finn & Fern.  Entertainment to include bagpipes by Don Mills, Dance performance by Footlight Dance Theatre, singing by Hunter Buckingham, demonstrations and information about current CCAC activities and events.  Plus more!

Grand Opening performance at the Erickson Cultural Center - June 8, 2008 - Marquette Male Chorus "How Can We Keep from Singing"  performs at 2:00 pm - will include songs, solos and bell ringing. Cost $5 per person donation.

Dance Workshop - June 13, 2008 - a summer dance experience for area youth K-12 presented by MACK Dance Consultants.  Taught by Marilyn Kahl.  Cost $20. for more information call 906-586-9974.

Curtis Garden Club Plant Sale -June 14, 2008 at Curtis True Value Hardware Store from 9:00 am - noon(?).  All proceeds from sale will benefit new and beautiful landscapes at the Erickson Cultural Center.  Plant donations for the sale will be greatly appreciated!  For more information call Ruth Ellenwood 906-586-6356.

Songwriters Showcase Performance - June 21, 2008 Live Music Concert 8:00 pm at the Erickson Cultural Center.  Concert performed by all the award winning staff of the 2008 Above the Bridge Songwriters Weekend.

 “FOLLYWOOD"  Variety Show and Luncheon -June 29, 2008  A variety show not (nor will ever be) ready for prime time.  Sponsored by: Curtis Community Arts Council.  To be held at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn.  All proceeds benefit CCAC

Art on the Lake - 2008 Silent Auction Art Project will be Welcome Signs.  Registration, information and some supplies will be available beginning May 14th at Curtis Service.

Knitting and Crocheting – 2nd Tuesday of the Month at 6:30 pm – 9:00pm

Spinning and Weaving – 3rd Saturday of the Month at 10:00 am – 1:00pm

Second Saturday Writers Group – 2nd Saturday of the Month at 1:30 pm

Bead Group – 2nd Thursday of the Month at 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
